OUR TAILORING:
We’ve been making upholstered furniture for over sixty years. Our
skilled fabric cutters, seamstresses and master upholsterers together
draw upon decades of expertise to match fabric patterns and shape the
fabric to produce each piece we make. Our dealers are so confident in
our craftsmanship that they sometimes send us C.O.M. (customer’s own
material) for us to cut, sew and upholster on their orders.
OUR CUSTOM OPTIONS:
We truly are special order specialists. Since we build our own frames,
cut each fabric one at a time, and because we are willing to make what
you want, we can create unique pieces for your home that reflect your
own tastes. We can even combine several fabrics on one item: just tell
us what you want where.
You can choose from hundreds of fabrics we keep in stock, or send us
your own fabric (C.O.M.).
We offer most styles in several standard sizes (long sofa, sofa,
loveseat and chair) to fit your space, but we can also make custom
lengths (including extra-long sofas) in some frame styles.
Our
standard cushions are designed for long-lasting comfort, but you can
also order specialty cushions, such as Spring-Down. Visit your nearest
Greene Brothers dealer to learn about additional ways to customize
your own unique Greene Brothers furniture.
OUR FRAMES:
Nobody builds a better frame than Greene Brothers. Unlike many other
upholstered furniture makers, we build our own frames so we can
control the quality of frame construction. If the frame is not strong,
the piece will not serve the customer well for long. We engineer our
frames from select hardwoods and hardwood laminates in the main
foundation of each frame. Each frame joint is double-doweled and glued
to ensure durability. All four corners of the frame are braced by
corner blocks, screwed and glued in place to keep the frame square and
strong.
OUR SPRING CONSTRUCTION:
We build seat spring systems the way the best manufacturers do, using
8-way hand-tied coil springs. Heat-tempered heavy gauge double-cone
coil springs are fastened to a strong webbing material covering the
bottom of the frame, reinforced with steel bands. These individual
springs are tied together by hand with tough polyester rope to form a
spring network that is soft enough for a child to feel the benefit of
the spring action yet strong enough to support a large person without
bottoming out. The coil springs network is covered with a synthetic
fiber pad, followed by a neutral, nonabrasive decking material.
OUR SEAT CUSHIONS:
Most of our styles come standard with Spring-Fiber seat cushions,
composed of a core of tempered-steel springs surrounded by
polyurethane foam, sewn inside a protective ticking with full pockets
of soft fiber sewn in on the entire top and bottom. Some of our styles
have Poly-Dacron seat cushions, made with a core of
environmentally-friendly polyurethane foam with soft fiber on the top
and bottom sewn into a protective ticking, giving you initial softness
and deep support.
Each seat
cushion is engineered to best suit the comfort of the frame style, but
if you wish, you can change the cushions to Spring-Down for a
reasonable upcharge.
OUR EMPLOYEES:
Our employees are our most valuable assets. It takes years to master
the skills necessary to make upholstered furniture of Greene Brothers’
quality. Each step in producing our furniture must be done right to
assure the finished product meets our quality standards.
With so
many manufacturers producing furniture overseas, we take pride in the
fact that every piece of our furniture is made in America, right here
in the foothills of North Carolina.
We are fortunate to have so many skilled craftsmen as long-time
employees, who are happy to spend their careers with us.
We are a
company of people committed to making wonderful furniture you will be
proud to own.
